Product Description Wear it, Shoot it, Share it... Think the world doesn't need more video? Wrong, it needs YOUR video, and VholdR (vee-holder) is the go-anywhere do-anything wearable camcorder that SHOOTS your life in motion. you can SHARE it with an entire world of action life stylists just like you. VholdR mounts to nearly anything, from helmets to handlebars, roll cages to bullhorns. It captures TV quality audio and video to a MicroSD card (1gb card included), and it's abuse proof. No tapes, no cables, no kidding. So get VholdR, and get in the game! Image Capture: It may look like just a lens, but the front of the camera houses at least 3 major elements. Dual lasers activate on demand, sending out referencing beams indicating two pieces of information, where the camera is pointed, and if it is level. The lens itself is a glass eye with a focal length covering the gamut, from arm's length to infinity, which focuses visual information onto a CMOS image capture card at 640x480 resolution. Armored Video Everybody recognizes the sound of cracking plastic, or the feeling of dread as we watch an expensive camera hit the ground and disintegrate into a dozen fragmented pieces. That's not a problem with VholdR. We recognize through years of action sports experience that gear is subjected to abuse, and the harder the sport, the harder the abuse. VholdR is made from brushed aluminum, baked fiberglass and rubb

No more duct taping the camera - go hands free! October 23, 2008 stinhoutx (Mission, TX USA) 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
I was pretty excited to get a chance to try out one of these cameras. My other camera is a Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 6MP Waterproof MPEG4 Camcorder with 5x Optical Zoom (White) which still required me to hold onto it somehow for filming. Getting a Joby GP1-01EN Gorillapod Flexible Tripod (Grey) helped with some options, but how to capture the fun on a Trikke Tech T12 Series 3-Wheeled Carving Scooter (Copper)? With a VholdR, of course!!!
Out of the box, I just had to install the battery and hook it up (powered off) to a powered USB port to charge for four hours or so. Despite the comments in the VholdR videos about needing to provide a card, this package did include a 1GB MicroSD (non-SDHC, support may be added through firmware later?). I powered it on and did a quick test around the house. The video quality is quite good considering the designed purpose of the camera, using a 640x480 format @ 30fps (Xvid in an AVI container). Audio is mono PCM @ 128 kbps. I did not have to install the software on a Windows XP SP2 machine to access the video. It was accessible as a mass storage device.
Support seems to be good based on the helpful (and entertaining) videos and support site provided. Accessories, such as extra batteries(VholdR 2300 Battery (Black)) and extra mounts, are available separately.
This is a fantastic option for folks that would like to capture first person video of action-filled activities. I wonder how the roller coaster footage would come out? :-)
Think of this as creative stimulation! October 23, 2008 Kent R. Folsom (Harrisonburg, VA USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The idea behind this little gem is for extreme sports. Well, suppose you don't snowboard, ski, skate, bungee jump, skydive, mountain bike, etc. What else can you do? How about just riding your bike on a neighborhood tour? Attach to the dog for a Rover-cam? Tape it to your remote-controlled vehicle? Velcro it to your dash (looking out or in!)? If it would be cool to see and you don't want to use hands, this can do it.
It is small, light, tough, self-contained, simple. Records a long time, with good quality. I keep it with me all the time. I never know when it might come in handy.
The down sides:
1. Wind noise on fast-moving sports in the microphone is pronounced. Taping the mic over when voice-over is not needed helps.
2. No view-screen to see what you're getting. Laser aimers help, but it takes a little trial and error to get it figured out!
The up sides:
EASY. TOUGH. LIGHT. GOOD VIDEO QUALITY. GOES ANYWHERE. MULTIPLE MOUNTING OPTIONS. So dang much fun to see point of view video! Go to vholdr.com and see examples.
Bottom line: I love mine!
Best tool for road racing and sharing videos! October 26, 2008 Kevin Klemmer (Seattle, WA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Okay, so I bought my first one last christmas (2007) for my crazy hobby, motorcycle road racing. This has been the single best tool for improving my track times. I can see exatly where I am breaking too early and where my bad lines are. :) I have made several dozen videos and each one has taught me a little bit about how I can improve my techniques.
And it is totally cool to be able to share my hobby with my family and friends in a way that just wouldn't be possble without the VholdR camera.
Anyone who wants to wear, shoot, share (as the promo says) this is the toy for you. You can see my videos on the website, which allows you to share your videos very easily and get a lot of comments as well[..].
This is way better than any of the other cameras I have tested and it is very easy to use. Just make sure to get some extra batteries and microsd cards, cause you'll wind up using this more than you think.
Happy Video Blogging!
Couldn't have made a better helmet camera purchase! November 10, 2008 G. Lee (Fullerton, CA) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I originally got this camera for my 17-year old BMX-crazy nephew and he loves it! Not only is it super easy to use, but it's virtually unbreakable (he's taken a few spills...) and so tiny that you can't even tell you're wearing a camera. Additionally, the video quality was great enough for him to use for shooting demos with his buddies. He's pumped to test it out this winter snowboarding season in Big Bear!
In fact, the whole family loves it so much that his father got one two weeks later! My brother in law has been taking the camera on every hike, bike excursion, and camping adventure since. With the many different types of mounts (handlebar, flat surface, helmet, etc.), my brother-in-law and nephew take no excuses and bring their vholdr cameras on every excursion they go on... We're just waiting for a fully waterproofed model to come out!
I highly recommend the VholdR for anyone who likes being outdoors and wants to record their activities. Plus, VholdR has a video-sharing community on their website, which makes it super easy for us to share vids with family and friends. Using the online community has also given my nephew and bro-in-law lots of ideas for how to maximize the use of their own vholdrs!
Perfect for the Action Sport Enthusiast November 24, 2008 D. Lee (Evanston, IL) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Where do I start? As a snowboarder and biker, I find this camcorder perfect for my endeavors. So many reasons why Im giving this camera 5 stars:
-Small and light camera. Perfect to attach to a helmet.
-Shock regulatory system and shatterproof; the rough and tough of my mountain biking or snowboarding didn't create any disturbances in the recording process.
-You don't have to worry about breaking a memory disk or data disc... because it records straight to the camera's internal memory! The memory can hold up to 100 minutes of recording!
-The USB port makes transferring videos to your computer easy.
-Video quality is great too! The camera's recording ability is 30fps with resolution 640x480 lines. Videos are downloaded into your computer in a TV-quality .mpeg4 (avi) file.
With the holidays coming up, this would make a perfect gift for those with children involved in skateboarding, snowboarding, and other action sports. Its also great for parents who want to capture their child's first moments on the ski slopes or a family's skiing vacation!
